MAGAZINE LAYOUT DIRECTOR

THE OBJECTIVE:

  • Completely rebrand the visual identity of Strike Magazine, elevating it from an inconsistent student publication to a cohesive, professional-level editorial

  • Establish a polished design system across typography, layout, color, and photography, creating a unified look and feel throughout the magazine

  • Lead and manage a team of designers while overseeing all aspects of layout, from concept to print-ready files

  • Ensure every technical print requirement was met—including bleed, crop, margins, and resolution—while keeping the entire publication within a $6,500 budget

  • Communicate directly with the printing company to manage deadlines, upload master files, and resolve pre-press logistics efficiently and accurately

THE RESULTS:

  • Successfully rebranded Strike Magazine with a refined, editorial aesthetic that elevated the FSU chapter’s creative reputation

  • Produced the largest Strike Magazine issue in the country at 152 pages, setting a new standard for design and production across all chapters

  • Delivered a seamless print experience by meeting every deadline and ensuring files were submitted correctly and on time

  • Maintained full production within budget while maximizing visual impact and quality

  • Established a cohesive visual identity that continues to influence the direction of future issues and inspires contributors across departments

  • Achieved proficiency in Adobe InDesign
